Went to Yosemite. We set up our hang gliders on Glacier Point and then stepped off. 3,214 feet to the valley floor.
This photo was shot with a wing mounted camera and an old squeeze ball and plunger type shutter release that I ran across the cross bar, down the downtube, and to my hand. I had to mount a counterweight on the opposite wing to keep the glider from having a horrid right turn.
The meadow below me in this shot is where we were landing. I am just under 1,000 feet over the landing zone in this shot, spinning down. You can also see my backup parachute mounted on my stomach.
This is a very old shot (circa 1982), so hang gliders, cameras, shutter releases, and harnesses have changed rather dramatically. Obviously an image scanned from film.
